How to use it

  1. Pick the skill: addition, subtraction, times tables or division.
  2. Pick the size. Easy (4 × 5 boxes) suits ages 5 to 7; hard (6 × 8) is a longer worksheet for ages 8 to 11.
  3. Press New maze until you like it, then Download PDF: page 1 is the worksheet, page 2 the answer key.

Tips

  • Ask kids to work out every box they step next to, not just the ones that look right: half of the other boxes are only one to three away from the target.
  • Use it as a warm-up, an early-finisher page or homework, and swap the skill each week.
  • Laminate a page and solve it with a dry-erase marker.

Questions

How does a math maze work?

Each box has a problem. Kids solve them and color every box that equals the target number. The colored boxes make one path from START to FINISH.

Is there only one way through?

Yes. The path of right answers never touches itself, and every other box has a different answer, so there is exactly one way from START to FINISH.

Which skills can I make?

Addition within 10 and within 20, subtraction within 10 and within 20, times tables 2 to 5 and 2 to 10, and division facts to 10.

Is the math maze generator free?

Yes. Make as many worksheets as you like and download them as PDF or PNG. No sign-up, and nothing is sent to us: it all runs in your browser.

Can I sell the math mazes I make here?
